The Eagle has Landed

That was my wake-up call this morning.

You see, it's hard to take the Hawaii out of the hearts, minds and opu of Hawaiians.
Seems like my sister in Florida was chatting with another expat and they got the longing for the taste of poi again.
So they asked if I could freeze some and ship it over.
OK, I said. Even through taro is still in short supply, I was able to buy 6 bags of Makaweli Poi (made right here on the wessai) and froze it. I asked my girlfriend if she had any (ahem) mangoes left and she obliged by preparing two ziplock bags of sliced fresh mangoes from the end of her spring crop.
All these goodies went into an insulated box along with a few pounds of dry ice and was Fedexed to Florida.
Don't ask how much it cost...
But the happy phone call from Florida at 6:15 this morning?
Priceless !
