Recommended Viewing (not for the squeamish)

A few years ago, a friend of ours worked as an extra in a movie being filmed on Kauai. He became the poster icon for the book by Ernest Gordon. (The lead actors appear on the movie poster.)
We got the scoops every day. It was a tough, grueling, raw experience starting at 4am every day...
IMHO, it is the best movie never to have had a major theatrical release- but we had an amazing premier in Waimea with 2 of the Japanese cast members present. (I recommend the DVD and the special features.)
2001 was not a good year to focus on the injustice of war, faith, hope, and forgiving your enemies to find redemption.
But 2008 might be a good year.
