Cat Call

Ok. It's time for their booster shots.
Squeaky and Palu knew what was up even before the cat carriers came out. Palu took off for her hiding place with my sons following. She conceded without too much trouble.
Squeaky was stuck with the old cat carrier. He's a bit big for that device and made one getaway in the car but went back in.

Squeaky sought refuge in the hated cat carrier but it was too late.
They were not too thrilled about getting their shots but they were good patients and didn't make much trouble.

After we got home, #2 son helped me harvest several gallons of worm tea and got busy doing outside chores. #1 son was in the neighborhood - taking items to the Cancer Survivors' Rummage Sale in Hanapepe. He was kind enough to come down with his truck and haul away some old mattresses to the dump.
Then the two guys talked about college and other "real world" kind of things.

Now I'm off to Costco to pick up a queen sized inflatable bed and microwave-friendly provisions for the boys.

Worm Tea? I sure hope that is not for human consumption!

I can just imagine worms being steeped in a gallon jar sitting in the sun for a week or two. Similar to the lemons I used to see in the sun?

Hopefully, it is for the garden as a fertilizer. I hope.

I have a can of worms in my kitchen for the veggies and some fruit scraps.

I am so bad. I still have not taken Cutie to the vet, mainly because he will go wild in the trap and scratch/hiss at me. He is an outdoor cat after all.

His face is all marked up because he gets into fights with other street cats.

so how do you get Squeaky in his carrier?
with a shoehorn?

I don't think those carriers are that expensive

Thanks for the information, Liz! So do you just put the vegi and fruit scraps in a can in your kitchen? Is it covered to contain the smell?

GG . . .

How cute can Cutie be if he has marks all over his face? Or do the marks make him cute? Kind of a like a broken nose and cauliflower ears on a boxer or wrestler. HA!

LV . . .

That is how they named Squeeky -- the sound he makes being placed in the carrier.

Cutie was very cute when he was a kitten, hence the name.

So Cutie went bad? Sad. I bet you do not have rats or mice around the house, right?

Liz . . .

Never had a pussy cat as a pet. What kinds of booster shots do they require -- twice in three weeks? My puppies got their distemper and stuff.

Cats - especially outdoor cats are vaccinated for feline leukemia, aids and distemper.
boosters are 3 weeks apart.

Even though my cats are indoor cats, the sometimes get out and could catch something from the feral cats.

It takes a shoehorn the first time but afterwards, I just wait for Squeaky to go into the carrier himself.

The can of worms is a multi- tray device. the worms wil move to the top and leave the castings and tea below. It just smells kinda like fresh dirt. There is a cover that lets in air and there is no smell when it is on.

gigi- will Cutie let you pet and carry? The best way to handle the cat is to grab them by the scruff on the neck like a mama cat carrying a kitten. The cat will go limp and keep still when carried this way.

Is that every three weeks year 'round? Dang. That can get expensive not to mention dangerous if GG has to take Cutie in!

I remember one of my friends, back in college, having one of those devices for worms in her kitchen. It was on the counter when I first started asking questions about keeping worm poop near the place she prepared food. AFter that it was moved to a different location in the kitchen.

wafan- one shot requires 2 boosters and one requires 1 booster than pau.

Can o worms is at the end of the counter on the floor- it's pretty big, Next to it are the catfood bin and rice bin.
