Mr. Aloha

Saturday we enjoyed Jason's much-heralded "bone-suckin' ribs" at Poipu Beach Park. Lilu had a good time and so did several families who are regular visitors to Poipu.

While the food was grilling, Aaron set up an ulumaika field horseshoes-style and taught our guests how to play.

How did we have such a diverse group? Well, that's the magic of Poipu Beach and my son Aaron, aka "Mr. Aloha". From his perch  in the lifeguard tower, he sees just about everything. And when he is not patching up someone's cuts or actively rescuing a swimmer or surfer in distress, he makes lifelong friends for Kauai.
The families who joined us today met several years ago right here at Poipu. Their daughters become play friends at the beach and everyone discovered that they enjoyed hanging out together. They travel as multi-generational family groups from as far away as New York and all were befriended by Aaron who, by example, brought the spirit of Ohana by including them over the years in his day-off activities like surfing, diving and our BBQ today!

Lilu got into the soccer ball - starting with uncle Steven and then some young friends.

Near the end of the day, after walking and rolling the soccer ball around the park, Lilu traded the boys back for her nerf ball, I scooped her up and we went to the sand for a tour of unique things. We started with the wa`a - outrigger canoe, and looked at the monk seal resting on the beach.
More pictures and videos are uploaded.

What a great thing -- sharing.

That is something I miss up here. THe last time I invited my neighbors over for a BBQ they balked. All they had to do was come over and eat! They kept asking questions and were leery. I almost told them to forget it. Anyhow, they finally came over and had a great time just visiting and eating.

Maybe being invited over by a single guy is not a good thing? Dang, if a single woman invited me over I would be there! Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
