This speech was unprecedented by former US presidents. I hope the Muslim response is positive.
It is the Americans I am concerned about as well.
The backlash to Islam Day in Hawaii demonstrates how little we really know about what we are feeling and why we see people as enemies.
Mr. Obama has to patch over the scars left by the ugly American and his posse. I wish him (us) luck!
The hatred and distrust of Muslim or anything foreign for that matter sure runs deep. Recall how the Chinese were not allowed to own land, the imprisonment of JA's, and the disdain of the Irish. There are many other examples, too.
Of course, the distrust goes both ways, too!
So what can we do to help put a stop to the madness? Every little bit counts!
