Making Connections.
A few months ago I came across Marc Myers' interviews with our dear friend Russ Garcia. You may recall that Russ and his wife Gina were at the New Zealand Conference. Well, one thing led to another and we all ended up together on Marc's blog Sunday! http://www.jazzwax.com/
Russ and Gina Garcia. On Thursday I received a lovely email from legendary arranger Russ Garcia, who lives in New Zealand with Gina, his songwriter wife. [That's JazzWax reader Liz Kauai, left, with Russ and Gina Garcia two weeks ago in Auckland]. Writes Russ:
"Wow, 5 degrees in New York. Help!!! I'm still thrilled about having worked with all those great New York musicians when I was in town last summer conducting my trombone band behind singer Shaynee Rainbolt. Every one of those musicians is the best anywhere. Keep on educating Earth people in good jazz. There is so much unBeauty out there now. We need your good work."

Wow, I have been reading the news about the wildfires in Australia. Too bad that over 150 people have died and many houses wiped out.
I am glad you weren't in Australia. The heat there is intolerable, too, over 110 degrees F.
Looks like several of the fires were deliberately set. Dusgusting cretins. I sure hope they find those who did that and imprison them for a long time.
I think the fires started after Liz left for home.
