Where the deer and the family play

Wow, just when I thought we would finally have a quiet day.. hahaha.
I woke up to the smell of home fried potatoes and sausages with eggs over easy.

Jumped into my Tsai-ko shirt and we headed out to the southeast side of Portland to visit with my eldest nephew Thomas and his family.

Of course, there had to be some good fuud in the mix so we chose Vietnamese - Pho Van.

Their son Marquez is around a year and a half now and is a cute little bundle of energy!

Tom, his wife Jen and I had variations of noodle soups and Mitchie had a fantastic wrap dish called #32 (haha) Minced chicken and shrimp on sugar cane spears.

It was something I never had before and very yummy!
We walked over to Coldstone for some dessert and Marquez got to taste a lot of different kinds of ice cream!
The restaurants were located in the Hawthorne district of Portland- where there is active gentryfication going on. Old neighborhoods are being remodeled and restored - turning derelict buildings into cute eating places and boutique shops. It's a great place to wander around and shop for unique gifts and art work.

When we finally went out of doors again, it was breezy and we could see the rain heading our way! We bid adieu to Thomas and family - after making plans to hook up again in the fall in Corvallis for the UH football game with OSU.
After lunch we visited the Oregon Health and Sciences University Health and Wellness Center Fertility Clinic where my new granddaughter became a reality. The doctor and staff were so happy to see Michele again and very excited about the upcoming birth!
This is a really cool health facility, whose upper and lower "campuses" are connected by aerial tram. We went for a ride to enjoy the fantastic view.

Portland is such a cool city and the public transportation is easy to use. Streetcars are available in many areas and the Max carries commuters in from the outlying communities.

Next, we cruised around the Portland State University campus, Michele's alma mater, and then drove home - stopping at Fred Meyer (what a great have-everything store!) in nearby Scappoose before climbing up the mountain.

Here is my blogging setup- Asus ieee PC on my sofabed with a nearby humidifier to keep me happy ;-)

Oh yeah- the deer came out to graze in the yard. Oregon living at it's best - organic, recyclable, friendly and filled with nature!
