Preparing for the Mokihana Festival

When the dancers take to the stage today and tomorrow, they will be focused, beautifully attired, and will demonstrate modern creativity rooted in ancient tradition.

Hula Kahiko Rehearsal from Liz Kauai on Vimeo.

What we won't see are the hours, days and months of preparation, spiritually and physically that led to these moments.

One of the things I missed while living in New York was hula. I always associate it with romance. Hawaiian music is seductive!

Kahiko is my favorite form. Auana is pretty but I just love the angular movement as opposed to the rounded form.

Thank you for the video! The performance is going to be AWESOME!
