Class of 2010- Congrats Byron!

It was wonderful to see my youngest son graduate from Waimea High School last night! He finished his senior year with determination and emerging maturity. I am so proud of him and grateful to God!

A highlight of the really moving Graduation Exercise was seeing Keahi Tucker back at his alma mater. I have known Keahi since he was born. He is a close friend of my eldest son Aaron and was a member of Waimea's swim team. He now lives in Honolulu with his wife Barbie and 3 beautiful children.

The self-proclaimed slacker of the Class of 1992 addressed the Class of 2010 with one of the most relevant commencement speeches I have ever experienced.

A Joyous Naw Ruz

Yes, it was a beautiful time together on a beautiful day!

It began with prayers, readings, and the Ali`i Strings playing Vivaldi's Spring.

Faith, fasting, feasting, friends, family, fun, fabulous!

Happy New Year!

From larvae to fry

My blue black marble Betta splendens fry are eating baby brine shrimp and growing into fish!

With a flash, you can see the blue iridescence emerging in some fish and black overtones in others. I think I even see some opaque in some (mom has a spot of opaque).

And, oh yeah- the marine aquariums are still going too!

WELCOME, 2010!

Start with a vid:

I usually stay home with the pets on New Years Eve but this year, the cats were in the house and appeared to be quite secure and unperturbed by the fireworks outside so I decided to join Byron and his halau ohana for New Years in Kekaha!

It was raining sporadically and pretty chilly so I made a big pot of corn chowder to share.

What a great choice! I had fun playing Yahtzee while the kids busted fireworks and played cards.

The food was sooo ono ono and when it got close to midnight, the Martinellis was served in flutes and it was just like the fancy dressup parties! But waaaay more comfy with good friends having a good time without "getting stupid".

The highlight of the evening was burning the New Years Tree... omg... that was really awesome!

Uncle Doric is a Yahtzee fanatic and we played and played til I fell asleep in my chair! The keiki were up for the big bangs and then played Wii on the big screen into the morning. I came home and crashed on my bed til now!

Have a safe and happy holiday everyone!
